Characteristics
ISOARC 309 MOL features low-spatter loss and excellent slag removal. The work surface is smooth and finish free of undercut. The electrode is free from porosity.
Applications
This is a molybdenum-alloyed electrode of the 309LMo type, which is primarily designed for joining or cladding Stainless Steels of similar and dissimilar compositions. Also for joining and cladding non-alloy or low-alloy steel to obtain corrosion or heat resistance. Use on steel types 304-308L, 3Cr12, 309L, 321, 347, 316L, 318.When used for surfacing, the composition obtained is more or less equal to that of astm 316 from the very first run.
Procedures
To avoid heat accumulation, use low amperage with stringer bead technique. Hold a short arc and remove slag after each pass. On DC equipment use positive polarity.
Redrying
Should electrodes become moist re-dry at 350°C for 1 hour
